Women of Distinction Awards
Recognized nationally as one of Canada’s most prestigious awards for women, the YWCA Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards honour women whose outstanding achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our community. The Awards also honour businesses and organizations that support the wellness and diverse needs of their employees. The Women of Distinction Awards began in 1984; since then YWCA Vancouver has honoured over 200 deserving women and workplaces.

The Weekend to End Women's Cancers
A powerful movement to end all women's cancers. A two-day, 60-kilometre walk through Vancouver streets in support of breast cancer research and enhancements to care at the BC Cancer Agency. It’s a Weekend to remember those lives we have lost to breast or gynecologic cancer and a Weekend to celebrate the lives being saved. This is a Weekend creating hope for every woman’s future. Since 2003, over $100 million has been raised by Weekend participants enabling numerous advances in cancer research and care. Proceeds continue to fund innovative research, treatment, and prevention programs for breast and gynecologic cancers at BC Cancer Foundation.

Wigs for Kids
In 2006, some good friends got together and realized they had a common goal. It was to create a committee who, in conjunction with BC Children's Hospital, could raise desperately needed funding for children requiring hairpieces to replace their own hair lost during treatment for cancer and other serious childhood illnesses.

Big Sisters Gala
Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland has been creating friendships since 1960. Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland's roots began in the late 1950's when a group of professional women began working with girls at the St. Euphrasias School. The women would each spend Saturday afternoons with a girl, shopping, playing games, and doing outdoor activities. Although the benefits of these relationships were acknowledged, it was also recognized that a greater impact could be made with a more permanent situation. |
